Reasons to travel Solo

“To travel is to take a journey into yourself”- Danny Kaye.

It is a general conception that to enjoy a trip, journey or holidays we need to travel in a group. It is my belief that to understand the true meaning and sense of the above quoted statement, one should travel all alone. Travelling alone can unearth unique experiences that are otherwise unattainable when navigating the wants and needs of a group.

If we venture into the travel world, we will understand that there is a new “me time vacation” trend in vogue. The idea of this vacation travel trend is to explore all by yourself new adventures, pragmatism, ideas provided by the tourism sector. From young to old, folks from all walks of life want to get on an adventure trail of solo travel.

Reasons for Solo Travel

  1. The Freedom to Be Yourself
From the very young age we are so dependent on others for decision making, that over the years we lose confidence to take our own decisions. The world we live in influences our life completely right from the very basic to complex decision and everything in between. Every time we want something different, our decisions are so heavily influenced that it’s impossible to figure out what we truly want. The society creates a mold constantly pressuring us to fit into it.  Solo vacations give us the liberty to do what we actually desire, from when to wake up, where to go, to whom to talk to etc. It lets us slow down, retrospect, reflect and spend that quality time with oneself that we often miss when we are caught up in the day-to-day life back home.
  2. The way you look at things will change
There’s so much to learn about the world, which generally we don’t realize. Seeing and exploring some of the most beautiful places all by our self will help us to understand the beauty of the world beyond our imaginations. It will leave us speechless. Our perspective on certain parts of the world or customs and beliefs will be completely changed when we experience it firsthand. It will make us understand that different cultures and ways of life make each place so special and iconic and it is a unique experience within itself.
  3. You always return home with lots of new friends
we come across other travelers just like us. We will interact, exchange views/experiences, share stories and ultimately realize how much we all have in common. At the end of the journey we’ll realize, we were not ever really alone at all.
  4. You never return the way you left
Venturing out alone renews your spirit in the most positive way. It changes your energy, your perspective of the world, the way you view others and the way you view yourself. You become a bit more fearless and more confident in your abilities to figure things out on your own. Travelling solo gives you a healthy push you need, to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. You learn to embrace being around unfamiliar places, people and all  the challenges that will present itself on the path of your journey.I would conclude by saying that travelling alone is the single best thing you can give yourself.

  2. I have spent and will in future spend many happy days and weeks travelling solo. In many ways it what defines my adventures on a motorbike. I travel alone because I choose to and also because I find that allows me to immerse myself in the culture and language of the places that I visit.
    Great post!
